Happy 2 month anniversary to me and New Zealand! I got a feel for the Abel Tasman National Park’s surrounding area on my cruise over to Collingwood, the last village before Farewell Spit, where I was staying for the night. The Mussel Inn halfway between Takaka and Collingwood looked warm and inviting, so I popped in for a bowl of mussel chowder and my first official beer as part of the Nelson Craft Beer Trail. The locals mapped out a collection of historic establishments perfect for tasting the region’s finest. To me, this concept is truly genius. Beer has been the focus of the Nelson-Tasman region ever since the Germans first settled back in 1840s, and I am more than happy to keep the tradition alive. If you ever get the chance, the Dark Horse was completely on point.

I found another great hostel very far off the beaten path, and as if the seclusion wasn’t relaxing enough, The Inlet Backpackers hooked me up with a private caravan with a double bed for the night! Emily isn’t the only one who gets to sleep in a campervan now.
